Tokyo and Jesolo outcomes, another Pacific Rim substitution …
As the successful Commonwealth team gymnasts take their last dips in the Pacific ocean at Gold Coast and journey back to the Great White/Wet North, other Canadians competing abroad had their struggles.
At the FIG Tokyo World Cup, Jackson Payne, of Calgary Gymnastics Centre, injured his ankle on his second floor pass and struggled gingerly through the rest of the event to finish 8th all around, earning his share of prize money ($4,000).
Tokyo was not a great outcome for Victoria Woo, of Gym-Richelieu, with falls on bars and beam, she finished beautifully on floor to be seventh all around. Her accompanying coach Julie Charron is there while her father, Michel Charron, is recovering from a complicated surgery. Vic will prepare next for the Pacific Rim Championships in Medellin, Colombia the last weekend in April.
